Yamunotri Dham – Home of the goddess Yamuna and named after the river Yamuna, sister of Yamraj. The Yamunotri Temple was built by Maharani Gularia from Jaipur in the 19th century. It has been destroyed and rebuilt twice this century. It is said that a stone pillar called the Divya Shila must be worshiped before entering the Yamunotri Temple. There are a number of hot springs near the temple, which flow into many pools. Among them, the most important source is Surya Kund, where raw rice can be cooked and distributed to devotees as prasad.
Gangotri Dham: Located at an altitude of 3048 meters – the home of the goddess Gangotri and named after the river Ganges. Gangotri Temple is located on the right bank of Bhagirathi. Kedar Gangga – the river that originates from the Kedar valley also flows about 100 meters from the Ganges temple. This river meets Bagirathi on its left bank which is called Kedar Ganga Sangam. Sri Gangotri Dham is a small Gangotri village and temple built by the Gorkha general Amar Singh Thapa in the 18th century. At night, Aarti is very famous from Gangotri Temple.
Kedarnath Dham: Located at an altitude of 3584 meters – Kedar is the name of Lord Shiva which means protector and destroyer. Sri Kedarnath Dham is also considered as the Samadhi of Shankaracharya. The temple here is very impressive. Kedarnath Temple is one of Lord Shiva’s 12 Jyotirlinga, set against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath Mountains. The farthest place of the four women.
Badrinath Dham: Located at an altitude of 3133 meters – Badrinath is the most critical destination for Char Dham. This place is dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan. One of the ‘Four Dams’, Badrinath is one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in the country, guarded on either side by two mountain ranges known as Nar and Narayan, with the towering peak of Neelkanth providing a picturesque backdrop. The journey to this place usually starts from Kedarnath Ji. This revered place used to be covered with berries. So the place got the name “Badri van” which means “forest of berries”.
